Lucia, star of "I Promessi Sposi" by Alessandro Manzoni. Arturo Bonanomi, born January 13, 1920 in Calolziocorte, Lecco died December 18, 2010, operated in Lecco establishing himself as an artist in painting after practicing the art of restoration and decoration. This activity originated from the attendance of the painter Frigerio in the '30s, was completed with Sora in the 50s and 60s. However, it was Vitali Donato Frisia who encouraged the young self-taught man to pursue that path that would lead him to work as a fresco painter for Guido Friesland in the 60s: the restoration of the frescoes for Count Albertoni in Montevecchia, for Countess Arese Lucini in Osnago and the Marquis Supreme Picenardi in Olgiate, were so successfully initiated. Later he had the support of Vitali who favoured and stimulated in him the quest for originality. In the 70s and 80s in Liguria where, following contests to "painting themes", he was awarded prestigious awards, as well as in Lecco, in the most diverse cities in Italy such as Milan, Brescia , Bergamo, Verona, Ventimiglia, Bordighera, Torino Pescara, Cagliari, Palermo and abroad in Lyon and London. Rural and Alpine landscapes, fruits and flowers, are all made with safe acquisition of painting techniques, tricks and colours that contribute to a successful synthetic composition. His paintings bring us back to the memory of a period where the landscape still maintained a nineteenth-century flavour, where rustic farmhouses, set in a rural world, remind us of our childhood. The art of A. Bonanomi is to convey in his paintings a penetrating vision of the truth with acute sensitivity that is expressed by his paintbrush. This vision we find in every painting, landscape or hidden corner, views that no longer exist because they have been cancelled by progress, or rather the transformation of our valleys and our villages due to intense urban expansion. Bonanomi was also revealed as a poet of the compositions written in the 40s, 80s and 90s. The reality, through words, is more complex and becomes a space suggested by the imagination and the desire to set the mood, surpassing the simple figurative representation: this is the new world in which the word compensates for pure description and becomes a different possibility of reading which is purely interior.
