The ceramic sculpture represents a parrot resting on a stump of a tree decorated with cherries and mushrooms. Its beautiful piece from the Royal Factory of Naples (Italian ceramics). It is in good condition. The Capodimonte porcelain owes its name to the hilly area of Capodimonte in Naples, where, in the mid-eighteenth century, King Charles of Bourbon and his wife Maria Amalia of Saxony founded the Royal Factory of Capodimonte. In 1743 in Naples, in the early years of the new Bourbon dynasty, King Charles and his wife, Queen Maria Amalia of Saxony, founded inside the famous Capodimonte Palace, now the Museum, the Royal Factory starting a tradition that has never ended. The porcelain that is produced in this area has some unique characteristics that distinguish it from the north European porcelain. In fact, in southern Italy there is no kaolin therefore the mixture is made up of a fusion of various clays from the quarries of the south mixed with feldspar. The result is a soft dough with a milky colour, which makes this factory unique in the history of porcelain. With the unification of Italy and the end of the monarchy there was a period of artistic decline in the country. The production of sumptuous tableware was replaced by a purely decorative floral style that still forms the core of the production ofNeapolitan ceramics which is called "Capodimonte" worldwide. From the middle of the 19th century the first family craft factories were born (Majello, Mollica, Cacciapuoti, Visconti), some of which still are committed to keeping the tradition alive today. On 20 March 1987 G. Caselli Institute took steps to patent the Bourbon Lily, and the words "Giovanni Caselli - Capodimonte" to be used also separately.
